From the President and CEO
In its three-decade history, The Paley Center for Media has become the public square for media, an invaluable connection point for all in our community who want to understand media’s impact on our lives, our culture, and our perceptions of the world.
She Made It in turn has become the leading resource for understanding women’s indelible mark in media, and one of the Paley Center’s most successful initiatives. Since 2005, using all our strengths, we have cast unprecedented visibility on female writers, producers, directors, sportscasters, journalists, and executives who have made vital contributions to our culture. In addition to creating a permanent archive featuring their work, we are presenting induction ceremonies for our honorees and an extensive series of live events that showcase their achievements. We are also providing 24/7 access to this initiative’s rich content through our dynamic website, www.shemadeit.org, which provides clips from the archive, webcasts of the events, biographies of the honorees, and more.
The Paley Center is continuing this terrific momentum and expanding She Made It into new areas. This year, for the first time, we are honoring women on the international scene, and in the future we will celebrate achievements in advertising and digital media. Next fall, we are partnering with Springboard Enterprises, a national organization dedicated to fostering women’s success in building high-growth companies, to launch ALLTHINGSMEDIA, a venture capital forum aimed at helping female media entrepreneurs gain access to the capital they need to take their businesses to the next level.
She Made It has thrived immeasurably through the leadership and tireless efforts of many people, both within and outside of the Paley Center. On behalf of everyone at the Paley Center, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our Steering Committee, led by trustee cochairs Loreen Arbus and Kay Koplovitz. I wish to thank the many sponsors of She Made It; we are grateful for your tremendous generosity.
Please join me in saluting the achievements of this year’s fifty honorees.
