From the Cochairs
With She Made It, The Paley Center for Media is pursuing one of its most ambitious efforts to date—an unparalleled initiative designed to give voice to a previously undiscovered history of women who have had a remarkable impact on the artistic growth and business development of television, radio, and evolving media worldwide.
She Made It annually salutes female visionary pioneers and contemporary innovators, spotlighting their accomplishments as producers, writers, and directors, as well as heads of networks, in the realms of entertainment, news, sports, and the executive suite. The Paley Center is using its unmatched curatorial assets to document the struggles and triumphs of these women, and providing continuous access to profiles and selected programming of its first 150 honorees through its website, www.shemadeit.org.
At the core of She Made It is the creation of a 2,000-hour archive of television and radio programming by women—the first collection dedicated to women ever assembled. This extraordinary record serves as an invaluable resource for scholars, industry professionals, and the public alike. In continuing this important work, the Paley Center will expand its holdings with programming from the international, digital communications, and advertising arenas, and with original interviews of the living histories of the honorees.
As trustees of the Paley Center and longtime supporters of its activities and its mission, we are thrilled by what She Made It represents and fully expect that it will inspire present and future generations of women seeking to make their own mark on the media landscape.
