How do you feel about certain genres of programming—the soap opera and the cooking show, for example—being labeled “women’s shows"?

more women's show stuff
Perhaps by virtue of where I live, the people I know who tune into cooking shows tend to be straight guys and the soap operas seem to be loved by gay guys. But Lost is totally a soap opera and has no sex or gender preference.
The term "women's show" seems to me very outdated and ridiculous. Unfortunately, it still stands that when a man thinks a show is geared toward women, he'll stop watching it, even if he likes it, so he'll seem more "masculine" (big quotes). The great equalizer in prevalence of shows, regardless of the group their geared toward is purely dollars. If people are tuning in and products are being sold, then even if the show is geared toward people with backwards faces it will stay on the air.
As long as women continue to move into higher and higher positions and have more and more control over the media, as their buying power increases, the stigma attached to "women's show" will fade.
